Nigerian music sensation Tiwa Savage has sparked a heated debate among her fans after revealing her perspective on cheating in relationships.
During a recent episode of The Receipts podcast, hosted by Tolly T and Audrey, the 44-year-old singer shared that infidelity has never been a reason for her to end a relationship.
“I have never left a man because he cheated on me. I’ve left due to so many reasons like drug abuse, emotional abuse, and being ghosted,” Savage candidly stated.
She stated that deeper issues, such as emotional neglect and substance abuse, are her primary deal-breakers in relationships.
However, her remarks did not sit well with many of her female fans, who took to social media to express their disappointment and disagreement.
One fan, @Superwoman9ja, wrote: “Dear Tiwa, cheating is an emotional abuse. Cheating comes in different forms—financial, physical, emotional, and mental. Cheating can lead to emotional and mental abuse.”
Another fan, @Chicandclassybyjane, commented: “But that same man will leave you without thinking twice!!!”
Others questioned the consistency of her statement. @Omoguipeace69 wrote: “But you left your husband because he cheated on you.”
Similarly, @Iamiseoluwatemitayo added: “You don’t leave a man because he cheated on you but left because he emotionally abused you?? Make it make sense na.”
Despite the backlash, some fans viewed her stance as an indication of her tolerance and understanding. “Awww. Understanding girlfriend” commented @Chinnydarkskin.
Tiwa Savage, often referred to as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” has frequently been a topic of public scrutiny, with her statements and personal life drawing both admiration and criticism.
