MedDropBox donates to UG Medical Centre

A not-for-profit organisation, MedDropBox has donated some essential medical supplies to the Orthopedic Department at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

The donations were made last week at the UG Medical Centre which marks the third year of MedDropBox's kind gesture in supporting Ghana's health care delivery.

A team of Doctors and medical staff were present to receive the medical supplies. Dr. Dziwornu Kunutsor, an Orthopedic Surgeon, at the UG Medical Centre received the medical supplies on behalf of the Centre.

Dr. Dziwornu expressed gratitude for the donations and was appreciative of the fact that some of the items would to useful to other units as well.

"We are grateful to MedDropBox for the donations given us. A lot of the items may be useful to other units and what is useful to us we will sort them out," said Dr. Dziwornu.

He added that some of the supplies are not easily accessible and these donations will be useful to their patients.

"We use these items at the hospitals and for the benefit of the patients who come in and especially those items that are not easy to come by."

Not all can afford the care and sometimes some of the things we may have to get from outside, and once we receive items that are useful, we will be happy to keep receiving them".

A medical doctor on the Orthopedic team, Dr. Vera Turkson was thankful for the continuous support MedDropBox has been offering over the last three years.

"We've been receiving this for the past three years and these donations have been of great use for us especially in the theatre and on the ward.

"I would like to say thank you very much and we hope to receive more of these in the coming years" Dr. Vera Turkson added.

MedDropBox’s President, Nana Somuah was excited with the support they have given hospitals in Ghana and the support the organisation has received from its partners in the United States (US).

"As a non-profit, the goal is to help people who don't have the means and I am excited this is the third year in a row we are making these donations,

Last year we made donations to UGMC and also to Masigan Medical Centre. We spoke to the Doctors and they were very appreciative and want us to expand this."

However Dr. Dziwornu appealed to MedDropBox to keep supporting the Centre.

"We will look at their scope and suggest a list of things that will be tailored to our needs. And we will be happy to receive more of these things that will be beneficial to our patients," said Dr. Dziwornu.
