Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team Dennis Miracles Aboagye has refuted claims that President Nana Akufo-Addo is solely responsible for the party’s unprecedented defeat in the December 7, polls.
His comments come amidst growing discontent among some NPP members, including MPs, who have pointed fingers at the outgoing president for the loss.
Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV on Tuesday, December 17, Mr Aboagye criticised the tendency to assign blame to one individual.
He argued that the defeat was not the fault of President Akufo-Addo alone but rather a collective failure that involved all members of the party, including government appointees.
He emphasised that every party member had a role to play in ensuring the NPP’s success or failure.
““It wouldn’t necessarily be Akufo-Addo’s direct fault, I could have contributed to it, and some other appointees could have contributed to it. People sitting in oil companies, financial institutions, and public institutions have been entrusted with the responsibility of the president,” he stated.
Mr Aboagye urged the party to avoid internal divisions and focus on rebuilding for future victories.
He called for introspection and unity, stressing the importance of addressing the factors that led to the defeat rather than engaging in a blame game.
