The Electoral Commission has clarified that agents of all major political parties were present and actively participated in the re-collation exercise held at the Tesano Training Depot for some outstanding constituencies.
This exercise was necessary due to security concerns that had disrupted the collation process in certain constituencies, making it impossible for officials to complete the task in the usual collation centres.
During the exercise, results from three constituencies were successfully re-collated and declared.
The Commission noted that the re-collation was conducted in a transparent and orderly manner, with party agents observing the process to ensure that the integrity of the results was upheld.
The decision to relocate the collation process to the Tesano Training Depot in Accra from the Eastern region was made after political party supporters had besieged some of the original collation centres, leading to intimidation, threats, and attacks on election officials.
In the EC's view, this created an unsafe environment for the officials, which prompted the need for a more secure venue.
The Electoral Commission assured the public that the re-collation at Tesano was carried out with the full participation of all stakeholders.
