The President of the French National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, has reaffirmed France’s unwavering support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
Speaking in Rabat on Friday during the closing seminar of the Morocco-European Union institutional twinning program, Braun-Pivet underscored France’s commitment to standing with Morocco on key issues, particularly the Sahara.
Highlighting the historical, cultural, and strategic ties between France and Morocco, Braun-Pivet emphasized her country’s dedication to supporting the Kingdom in addressing its “existential challenges,” she stated unequivocally:
“The present and future of the Sahara lie within Moroccan sovereignty.”
Braun-Pivet also noted the significant development seen in the Sahara region and stressed the role of the French National Assembly in furthering these advancements.
She pledged support for the region’s progress through collaboration with French businesses and operators.
In line with this commitment, Braun-Pivet announced plans for a parliamentary mission to the Sahara.
This mission aims to foster new economic and cultural partnerships that will benefit local communities and further solidify the bonds between the two nations.
