The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to President-elect John Mahama on his victory in Ghana’s 2024 Presidential election.
The Association lauded the President-Elect’s triumph as a reflection of the people’s will and an affirmation of the nation’s democratic principles.
“Indeed, the good people of Ghana have overwhelmingly spoken in his favour,” the GBA stated, expressing optimism that Mahama will continue to uphold and champion the democratic values cherished by the Ghanaians.
The GBA commended the Electoral Commission, the Diplomatic Community, security agencies, polling station agents, and both domestic and international election observers for their unwavering dedication to ensuring the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
Special recognition was also given to citizens who participated in the election, with the GBA highlighting their enthusiasm and commitment to shaping Ghana’s future.
“We applaud all citizens who dutifully exercised their franchise,” the statement noted.
In addition, the GBA acknowledged the statesmanship displayed by His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who promptly conceded defeat.
“His timely concession reflects the maturity and resilience of our democracy,” the GBA remarked.
The association concluded by reaffirming its hope in President-Elect Mahama’s leadership, emphasising his role in nurturing Ghana’s democracy.
“May his tenure further strengthen the democratic tenets that have become the cornerstone of our nation,” the GBA added.
