Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, has dismissed claims that Dr Callistus Mahama, a member of the President-elect’s transitional team, is a relative of Mr Mahama.
She categorically stated that there are no familial ties between the two individuals, describing the assertions as baseless.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, 12 December 2024, Joyce Bawah Mogtari clarified that Dr Callistus Mahama was selected for the transitional team based on his expertise and proven track record in governance and public administration.
She emphasised that the appointment was solely merit-based and not influenced by personal or family connections.
"Dr Callistus Abukari Mahama has no familial relations with the President-elect, H.E. John Dramani Mahama! Kindly take note."
The comments come in response to circulating rumours suggesting that the appointment of Dr Callistus Mahama was influenced by a supposed family relationship with the President-elect.
The allegations have sparked discussions in some sections of the media, prompting Ms Mogtari’s swift intervention to set the record straight.
Ms Mogtari further urged Ghanaians to focus on the critical role of the transitional team in ensuring a smooth transfer of power, rather than indulging in unfounded speculations.
She reiterated the President-elect's commitment to appointing qualified and competent individuals to key roles, reflecting his vision for a transparent and effective government.
