The University of Ghana School of Law has recognized Bernard Owusu-Twumasi, a lawyer, with the prestigious “Legend Award” for November. This monthly honour celebrates alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the institution and the nation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kwame Awadzie, on behalf of Prof. Raymond Atuguba, highlighted the significance of maintaining strong ties with the school’s alumni community.
“The UGSOL has a vast community of alumni, and we’ve put in place strategies to ensure that we are always in touch with them and recognizing them for their achievements,” he said.
Bernard Owusu-Twumasi, the “Legend of the Month”, praised the University of Ghana School of Law for creating a platform to honour its alumni while inspiring them to give back to the institution.
“UGSoL stands as the leading institution for legal education in Ghana, having shaped the careers of most lawyers in the country. I urge my fellow alumni to contribute, particularly under the guidance of Professor Atuguba. Together, we can transform the faculty into a state-of-the-art hub, potentially featuring modern facilities, including office spaces alumni can rent in the future.”
Patricia Yeboah, Chief Executive of Apex Health Insurance, one of the businesses owned by Bernard Owusu-Twumasi, praised his remarkable contributions towards job creation.
She highlighted his creation of a network of companies that employ over 300 individuals, making a substantial impact on addressing the unemployment rate in Ghana.
Bernard Owusu-Twumasi is a scholar and entrepreneur who co-founded Sedem Travel and Tours and also established Ghana’s first private investigations company, Oak House Private Investigations.
