The National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) congratulates His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on his resounding victory in the 2024 presidential elections.
Under the leadership of its President, Hon. Alfred Asiedu Adjei, the association lauded the outcome as a reaffirmation of the people's trust in his vision and commitment to Ghana's progress.
In a statement, Hon. Alfred Asiedu Adjei emphasized that H.E. John Dramani Mahama’s return to the highest office is a testament to the enduring confidence Ghanaians have in his leadership.
"This victory reflects the collective hope of the nation for a brighter and more inclusive future, where democracy, social equity, and sustainable development remain at the forefront," he remarked.
Hon. Adjei highlighted the critical role of decentralization and local governance in national development, expressing optimism that the new administration would prioritize empowering Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs). "Your Excellency’s leadership provides a unique opportunity to deepen decentralization, equip MMDAs with adequate resources and autonomy, and strengthen their capacity to deliver transformative development at the grassroots level," he stated.
The NALAG President reaffirmed the association’s readiness to collaborate with the government to achieve these goals, stressing the importance of transparency, accountability, and community-focused policies.
“As the nation embarks on this new chapter, NALAG remains committed to partnering with your administration to foster effective local governance systems that enhance the quality of life for all Ghanaians,” he added.
Hon. Adjei concluded the statement by wishing H.E. John Dramani Mahama divine wisdom, strength, and success in his leadership journey. He assured the President of NALAG’s unwavering support in working toward a united and prosperous Ghana.
