The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, says the Commission has demonstrated fairness in the elections.
According to her, the Commission “has walked the walk of transparency, we have walked the walk of accountability, we have walked the walk of responsiveness, and we have walked the walk of inclusiveness,” she said at the 8th press engagement since Sunday morning, hours after the polls had closed.
She then called on the general public to exercise patience, as the Commission is yet to receive results from some regions.

Mrs Mensa explained that the Commission is aware of the calls and pressure from some sections of the public to declare the outcome of the election, but the right process must be followed. Therefore, the declaration will be made once the remaining results are received.
It has been 24 hours since Saturday’s polls, and many Ghanaians are expressing anxiety over who will become the next president of the country.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketia, called on the Commission to declare the results of the presidential race. Also, the National Communications Directorate of the NDC, led by Sammy Gyamfi, has also mounted pressure on the EC to announce the outcome of the polls.
According to provisional results from the majority of constituencies across the country, former president John Dramani Mahama is leading.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner said that one of the factors delaying the collation of results from some regions is the presence of supporters from various political parties who have besieged EC offices in those regions.
