Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has delivered a message of resilience and hope to his supporters following the party's defeat in the 2024 presidential election.

Addressing the rank and file of the NPP, Dr Bawumia acknowledged the disappointment many party members are feeling but assured them that the fight for Ghana’s transformation is far from over.

He expressed understanding of the difficult emotions his supporters, particularly the rank and file are experiencing but stressed that the party would regroup, reflect on the election, and come back stronger.

"To the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party. I know the feeling hurts, given that this is not the result you worked for. I know you would feel there is darkness ahead that is natural, especially when, in all sincerity, you give the assignment your all, but I assure you that we will regroup and come back even stronger. We will take stock of events and pick lessons to guide us going forward," he said in his emotional address on Sunday, December 8.

According to him, while the NPP may have lost the battle, it is far from losing the broader political war.

"We may have lost the battle, but not the war," he declared, urging his supporters to remain optimistic and look to the future with hope.

Additionally, he reaffirmed the party’s commitment to holding the incoming government accountable while ensuring that the spirit of transformation and progress remains at the forefront.

In his message to the party, Dr Bawumia urged all NPP members to stay united and keep their faith in the party’s vision, despite the current setback.
