Engaging journalists in the region on Tuesday, he emphasised the need for on-air moderators and reporters of radio stations in the region to avoid misinformation and disinformation during and after the elections.
He said the media's role in nation-building is not in doubt and advised the Journalists to desist from putting out fake news which can heighten tensions.
“As journalists, you have a crucial role to play, and it is critical on your part to be cautious during and after the December 7 polls to ensure a peaceful outcome. Please avoid sensationalism to promote and maintain the peace we are enjoying.”
Mr Suleman Iddrisu called for a formidable collaboration between the leadership of the various political parties and the law enforcement agencies to mount a coordinated response to untoward happenings.
