The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Keta, Emmanuel Gemega, has called on residents to throw their support behind the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections to ensure the continuation of crucial developmental projects in the municipality.
Speaking at a community engagement in Keta, Mr Gemega emphasised that the NPP’s vision and ongoing infrastructure initiatives are pivotal to the region's transformation.
Addressing a diverse audience of community leaders, youth groups, and market women, Mr Gemega outlined the substantial progress made under the current administration.
He highlighted significant achievements, including road improvements, enhanced healthcare facilities, and educational infrastructure projects.
According to the MCE, these projects are designed to uplift the living standards of residents and lay a robust foundation for future growth.
“Our commitment to the development of Keta is unwavering. The NPP government has initiated various projects that are already changing lives, and we need continuity to complete these transformations,” Mr Gemega stated.
He pointed to ongoing works such as the expansion of the Keta Municipal Hospital, the construction of modern classroom blocks, and various road networks connecting rural areas to urban centers.
The MCE emphasized that halting these projects due to political changes would derail progress and disrupt the livelihoods of many.
He further urged constituents to focus on the broader picture of national development rather than partisan politics.
“We are not just building infrastructure; we are building a future for our children. The NPP's commitment to job creation, education, and healthcare is evident, and I implore you to give us the mandate to do even more,” he added.
Community leaders who attended the event echoed Mr Gemega's sentiments, acknowledging the visible improvements in the municipality.
Kwame Dzudzorli, a local elder, remarked, “We have seen significant changes. The roads and schools are better than before, and we need to support the government to continue this good work.”
The MCE's appeal comes at a crucial time as political activities intensify ahead of the 2024 general elections.
With the Volta Region traditionally seen as an opposition stronghold, Mr Gemega’s call reflects the NPP's strategy to make inroads by demonstrating tangible developmental impacts.
The NPP has made substantial efforts to shift perceptions in the region through projects aimed at improving infrastructure, boosting local economies, and fostering inclusive governance.
Mr Gemega’s message aligns with the broader narrative of the party's commitment to equitable development across Ghana.
As the elections draw near, the people of Keta face a critical decision. Will they continue with the momentum of ongoing projects, or opt for change? Emmanuel Gemega’s plea for support underscores the high stakes involved, emphasizing that the future of Keta’s development hangs in the balance.
In his concluding remarks, the MCE urged all eligible voters to participate actively in the democratic process. “Your vote is your power. Let’s use it wisely to secure a prosperous future for Keta.”
