Residents of Kudula, a farming community in the Tamale South district of the Northern Region, now have access to potable water after decades of searching for a reliable source.
The intervention was provided to the community by one of the independent Presidential candidates contesting in this year’s election, Nana Kwame Bediako of the New Force movement.
According to New Force, the flagbearer became aware of Kudula’s water challenges during his “276 constituency tour” in that part of the country, after which he promised to provide them with a reliable source of water.
A mechanised borehole was swiftly constructed to alleviate the challenges faced by the locals.
Before the installation of the borehole, the residents were forced to share a dam with their livestock and other animals, which they described as unhygienic.
They also noted that the search for water during the dry seasons worsened the situation, making the intervention timely.
At a ceremony held to inaugurate the water project, Mr Bediako stated that he aims to become the President of Ghana not for personal gain but to transform the country and ensure that every citizen receives their share of the national wealth.
He said, “In Kudula, access to clean water was a pressing issue, with residents depending on a polluted pond for drinking water,” adding, “Water is life and a fundamental right that everyone must enjoy.”
The residents expressed their gratitude for the gesture and pledged to vote for him in next week’s election.
Mr Bediako, a real estate developer, believes that Ghana has all the resources needed for development but lacks effective leadership. He asserts that he possesses the competence to lead the nation.
His focus is to build Ghana based on the vision of Dr Kwame Nkrumah. He also promises to form a government with just 12 ministers in order to reduce unnecessary expenses and save public funds.
