The Ghana Police Service has clarified an incident about a broken seal on a bag of electoral materials dispatched for the upcoming 2024 general elections on December 7.
According to a statement released by the Police on Friday, November 29, the affected bag was among those dispatched for one of the constituencies in the Eastern Region.
The police explained that the seal was accidentally broken during the packing and unpacking process at the distribution point.
The statement further assured the public that the contents of the bag remained intact.
Stakeholders, including officials of the Electoral Commission and representatives of political parties, had verified and confirmed the integrity of the materials.
The police called for calm and urged all stakeholders to disregard any misinformation surrounding the incident.
They reiterated their commitment to ensuring a secure and transparent electoral process for all citizens and stakeholders.
