Asante Kotoko returns to Baba Yara for remainder of the season

Asante Kotoko has officially announced its return to the Baba Yara Stadium for the remainder of the season.

The stadium was closed for renovation after the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the continent's football governing body, withdrew its approval for Category Three matches to be played at the venue. CAF’s decision followed Ghana’s 1-0 loss to Angola in a 2025 AFCON qualifier.

During the closure, the Porcupine Warriors used the Len Clay Sports Stadium as their temporary home venue. However, maintenance work at Baba Yara Stadium has now been completed, paving the way for its reopening.

Seth Panwum, Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA), confirmed the development in an interview with Accra-based Channel One Sports. He stated that Asante Kotoko and other clubs that rely on the stadium for home games can now resume playing there.

On Thursday, 28 November, Asante Kotoko expressed its excitement about the return in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter):
"We are pleased to announce our return to the Baba Yara Stadium for our remaining home matches of the season. This decision was made following an official communication confirming the completion of maintenance work at our historic home venue."

This announcement also sets the stage for the first Super Clash of the season between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak. The match will take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium once the Ghana Premier League resumes after the December 7 elections.
