Bawumia vows to address challenges in Ga State

The NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to address pressing challenges confronting the Ga state, particularly those stemming from its status as the host of Ghana’s capital city, should he be elected president.

Speaking during a visit to the Ga Mantse’s palace on Thursday, 28 November, Dr Bawumia highlighted critical issues such as land disputes, youth unemployment, and the diminishing use of the Ga language.

He assured the Ga Mantse and the people of his unwavering commitment to resolving these challenges, emphasising the importance of balancing national development with preserving the Ga state's cultural heritage.

"The Ga state is home to Ghana’s capital, which attracts people from across the country. This brings unique challenges, particularly regarding land," Dr Bawumia noted.

"The demand for land here is disproportionately high, leaving indigenes without access to affordable land. This is a major issue that requires targeted intervention."

He also pointed out the decline of the Ga language and limited opportunities for the youth. "Ga must be actively taught in schools to safeguard it from extinction," he urged.

Addressing concerns over job creation and education, he added, "Opportunities in schools and employment for young people in the Ga state must expand.

"I pledge to work collaboratively with the Ga state to resolve longstanding land disputes and other developmental challenges in a way that benefits the people."

Dr Bawumia assured the Ga Mantse that these issues would be prioritised under his leadership, reaffirming his commitment to promoting equitable development and cultural preservation.
