23 ambassadors inducted to take on 2025 GSTEP Challenge in three regions

Twenty-three Youth Steering Group ambassadors have been inaugurated ahead of the Ghana Science and Tech Explorer Prize (GSTEP) Challenge.

These ambassadors are to spearhead activities of contestants from the Eastern, Ashanti and Greater Accra regions. They are expected to assume leadership roles and assist participating junior high schools in the selected regions execute their projects.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr Williams Kwame Amankra Appiah who spoke at the Ashanti region induction ceremony commended the GSTEP organiser for the YSG ambassador initiative.

"The GSTEP is starting from the basic school which is boosting and motivating them to be innovators," he said, adding that the Ghana Education Service is happy with the collaboration with GSTEP and suggested an expansion for more schools to participate.

Speaking at the Greater Accra induction ceremony held at the DreamOval Foundation Office in Accra, the Executive Director of the foundation, Oforiwaa Asiamah Adjei, highlighted the importance of initiating the ambassadors.

"The YSG programme of the GSTEP is meant to honour young people we have selected who want to give back to the participants. We found these people who are leaders of their communities and are excited to help change and invest in their communities and education," she said.

Miss Oforiwaa added that the young ambassadors were selected based on their passion, creativity, and community involvement in STEM-related activities.

As part of the foundation’s vision, the nominees will be provided with effective skill training to enhance their leadership and communication potential.

Nine, seven, and six ambassadors will be leading in the Eastern, Ashanti and Greater Accra regions respectively and will be taken through masterclasses with a focus on communication, event management, logistics, and public speaking.

The participants will also be paired with mentors who will guide them through the process of serving as ambassadors and leadership training.

The YSG programme aims at training young people to be motivators and contribute to change in their communities, serving as a testament to DreamOval Foundation’s commitment to youth leadership in Ghana.

As the 2025 GSTEP Challenge approaches, the ambassadors are expected to assist contending junior high schools within their various regions in different aspects, including operations and events, communication, monitoring, evaluation, and research, community action, and capacity building.
