President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has voiced concerns that the completion of the Agenda 111 hospital projects could be jeopardised if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) returns to power.

He pointed out that the opposition had previously criticised the initiative, raising doubts about their commitment to seeing it through.

The President warned that crucial projects initiated during his administration, including Agenda 111, might be abandoned if former President John Mahama and the NDC are elected in the upcoming general elections.

He emphasised the potential consequences of a change in leadership, urging the electorate to take this into account when voting.

President Akufo-Addo reiterated his dedication to ensuring that some Agenda 111 projects are completed and commissioned before the end of his tenure.

He expressed confidence in his government’s progress and the long-term benefits the hospital projects would bring to Ghana.

Speaking to a gathering of professional bodies in the Ashanti Region on Sunday, 24th November, he highlighted the accomplishments of his administration and the importance of continuity in leadership.

The President believes that halting these projects could undermine the gains made in the health sector under his governance.

He appealed to voters to carefully weigh the progress made during his presidency and the risks associated with changing direction.

“Before I leave office on January 7, 2025, I would have completed and outdoored some of them. Sewua Infectious Disease Centre and handed over for use, Komfo Anokye Maternity and Children’s Hospital is 68 per cent completed. Asante Akim District Hospital is completed, Kumawu District Hospital is completed."

“With the way some people talk of these projects, the people of Ashanti, think very carefully for December 7. I am convinced that some people will come into office and stop a lot of these projects.

"The Agenda 111 is not in their hearts, those that are not finished will not be finished, we have seen it before, do not let us make that mistake this time," he stated.
