The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has cautioned Ghanaians against re-electing the New Patriotic Party and its presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Speaking at a rally in the North East regional capital town of Nalerigu, the chairman claimed electing Dr. Bawumia is akin to an endorsement of a third bid for President Akufo-Addo.

Addressing his party supporters, Asiedu Nketiah described Dr. Bawumia as a person Akufo-Addo intends to utilise to “complete their Akyem agenda”.

“They want to use Dr. Bawumia to have a third term for Nana Addo, so that they can complete their Akyem agenda”, the chairman said, sparking loud cheers and chants from the charged crowd.

He maintained that “by voting for Bawumia, you are voting for a third term for Nana Akufo-Addo”.

“So if you think you need a proper Northern president, you’ve no choice but to vote for John Dramani Mahama. They themselves have said that they want a poodle that they will use as a front and the whole government would still be controlled by Akufo-Addo”.

Asiedu Nketiah also alleged that there is no commitment from the leadership of the NPP to make Dr. Bawumia the president.

“They themselves are saying that they have chosen Dr. Bawumia because if they didn’t choose him, we would be teasing them, so it tells you that they don’t have any commitment to make Dr. Bawumia the president”.

The NDC National Chairman on a campaign mission to the North East Region visited the Chereponi, Yunyoo, and Nalerigu – Gambaga constituencies. He urged the constituents to vote for the NDC parliamentary candidates as well.
