The Ghana based firm, Dutch & Co, a leading renewable energy firm has won the 2024 Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
The second was Holland Greentech, a social enterprise which has a large network and track record in strengthening the horticulture business of mainly Dutch horticulture suppliers in 12 Africa countries
Third was Kenyio, a food and wellness company with the mission of building strong international brands that offer healthy, nutritious, and delicious and innovative food brands which are powered by African ingredients.
The awards was organized by Netherlands Embassy and the Ghana Netherlands Business and Culture Council (GNBCC) in Accra.
Receiving the award, General Manager for Dutch & Co, Herbert Friese said it is recognition is a testament to the hard work that our team put in.
“We have an amazing team of Ghanaian men and women who everyday woke up and try to make the world a better place through offering sustainable solutions.
Mr Friese said the recognition will inspire them to continue to work hard and grow the business.
His ambition is to make the country a better place, employ people, create new products and to make sure that Ghana is on the map.
M He urged the other competitors – Holland Greentech and Kenyio not to give up but strive for excellence.
“I am very impressed about the enormous ambition they have especially in agriculture to boost Ghana’s exports. Don’t give up, stay in the business and grow it. Even though it will be an uphill battle, keep on consulting each other and attract funding through delivery of quality,” he added.
A member of the jury and General Manager, Ghana Netherlands Business and Culture Council (GNBCC), Tjalling Y. Wiarda said though it was a herculean task, Dutch and Co distinguished itself in all the criteria set for the award scheme.
He was happy all the businesses are creating employment to boost Ghana’s economy.
“I feel very positive because they are all creating employment and opportunities for women and the youth in a sustainable way” Mr. Wiarda said.
For his part, Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. JeroenVerheul commended all the award winners for the feat chalked.
He said Netherlands will continue to support companies whose activities help protect the planet.
The Entrepreneur of the Year award is an initiative designed to highlight the significant contributions of Dutch businesses and business partners with strong ties to the Netherlands, who are driving sustainable development, fostering trade and creating opportunities in Ghana.
Every year, outstanding entrepreneurs with ties to the Netherlands are selected to celebrate their achievements.
