Chief of Akyem Muoso, Osabarima Dr Owusu Beyeeman is urging Ghanaians to value and protect the lives of fellow human beings.
He said the phenomenon of spilling blood and killing fellow human beings for chieftaincy and political power is appalling and must be stopped immediately.
According to Osabarima Dr. Owusu Beyeeman, the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and our state laws guarantee individuals the right to life.
He added that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and in rights hence individual rights to life must be protected.
Addressing a Durbar of the chiefs and people of Akyem Muoso as part of activities to mark the first anniversary of his installation as the Chief of Muoso, Osabarima Dr Owusu Beyeeman recounted the chieftaincy dispute that predates his installation and how people spilled blood because of others quest to become chiefs.
"Akyem Muoso nearly collapsed due to a chieftaincy dispute, the spilling of blood and all the chaos was needless. Who are you going to rule over when you're done killing your own people? The Chieftaincy dispute here and everywhere in the country doesn't help, if we don't avoid conflicts, our States will collapse one day," Osabarima Beyeeman said.
Osabarima added that, he never contemplated becoming a chief, however he only accepted his nomination by the kingmakers to serve and unify the Muoso town due to the conflicts that predates his nomination and installation.
"I had a plan for my life, becoming a chief was never a part of my plans. But sometimes, God uses us for his own purpose. The voice of the people is the voice of God so I had to accept my nomination by the Kingmakers and gear up to do the will of God," Osabarima explained.
Osabarima expresses gratitude to God and the people of Muoso for their support in smoking the peace pipe and the maintenance of peace, order and brotherliness that has existed in Muoso after his installation.
He said nations can only develop when there is peace.
"In April 2023, when you made me a chief of Muoso, I told God to lead through me. And I asked for Peace, Unity and development. Indeed, God has been in the wheel and we have made huge progress in one year"
Osabarima Owusu Beyeeman recounted some developmental projects chalked within a year under his reign.
He said, the construction of the world class police station at Muoso will help protect the peace in the area and reduce crime.
Osabarima Owusu Beyeeman mentioned some success stories in education, job creation, community development and peacebuilding.
"In one year, we have rehabilitated school buildings, rewired some schools, and improved on the poor BECE performance from 32% pass to over 70% pass within a year. We have provided support to needy students; buying uniforms, desks and books for school children. We want our children to pass and get admission to the STEM School at Abomoso and other Senior High Schools in the country. No child should be left behind. Education is the way to go," Osabarima Dr. Owusu Beyeeman added.
He has also offered to support needy students who get admission at SHS to procure basic items required for their stay in the boarding house.
A senior lawyer and law lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law Professor Kwame Gyan eulogies Osabarima Dr Owusu Beyeeman for promoting and maintaining peace and development in Akyem Muoso.
He said the success chalked by Osabarima within a year is remarkable and needs to be supported.
