The Paramount Chief of Kumawu in the Ashanti region, Barima Sarpong Tweneboa Kodua, has commended the government for the implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

While welcoming Dr Bawumia to Kumawu as part of the Vice President’s campaign tour of the Ashanti region, the Kumawumanhene highlighted several projects delivered by the NPP government for Kumawuman and Ghana, with the Free SHS policy standing out as the "ultimate" achievement.

"Today, I won’t say much, except to bear testimony. It has been eight years since you and your boss assumed office, and I am here to testify to the great work you have done for Kumawuman and the people of Ghana," the Chief said.

"When it comes to education, the evidence is overwhelming. There is an ongoing STEM project, and TVET [Technical and Vocational Education and Training] is also here, providing many young people with skills training. But Free SHS is the ultimate. Every child is benefiting. Because of Free SHS, we don’t even have children running errands for us. All our children are in school, thanks to Free SHS," he added.

The Kumawumanhene stated that Free SHS has not only enhanced education in Kumawu and across Ghana but has also provided significant relief to parents, who no longer have to struggle with the financial burden of schooling.

"All parents need to do is provide a few items for their children, thanks to the school feeding programme in addition to Free SHS. This has really relieved parents. Education is on the rise here in Kumawu, and it is because of Free SHS. This is part of my testimony today," he told the Vice President and his delegation.

The Kumawumanhene also praised the NPP for delivering projects in other sectors, including agriculture, health, and local government.

In agriculture, he mentioned a National Service Scheme project in Sekyere Afram Plains, and in health, he highlighted the construction of a 120-bed hospital, both of which, he said, are providing direct and indirect employment opportunities in the area.

He also commended the NPP for the construction of an ultra-modern district assembly complex and appealed to Dr Bawumia to elevate the district to a municipal status when he becomes President.

The Kumawumanhene further praised the NPP for the construction of roads in the area, as well as the provision of equipment through the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP).

While assuring Dr Bawumia of Kumawuman's support for the NPP’s efforts, the Kumawumanhene expressed his gratitude to the Vice President for his swift intervention in providing two pick-up vehicles to the community following an appeal he had made.

He urged Dr Bawumia to continue spreading his positive message and policies, assuring him that the good people of Kumawu and Ghana will reward his dedication and hard work.
