The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has urged Ghanaians to reject Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming December 7 elections, arguing that his leadership has led to economic hardship.
Speaking during a community engagement in Enchi, located in the Aowin Constituency as part of his campaign tour of the Western North Region, Mahama emphasised that a victory for the NDC would mark the beginning of the country’s economic recovery.
He vowed that the NDC would bring about responsible management of the nation’s resources.
Mahama, addressing a crowd of supporters, said that voting for Dr. Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate, would be a vote for continued economic challenges and poor financial management.
He criticised the current government’s handling of the country’s finances and blamed the Vice-President’s leadership of the Economic Management Team for the economic struggles.
“A vote for Bawumia means you are happy with the mismanagement of our finances, our increased debt stock, and the current suffering. If you are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs, you must vote them out of office,” Mahama told the crowd.
The former president pointed to the failures of the NPP government, particularly its inability to effectively address the economic challenges that have plagued the nation.
He highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s role as the Chairman of the Economic Management Team and accused him of contributing to the worsening economic situation.
Mahama also expressed sympathy for the difficulties Ghanaians are facing due to the poor state of the economy, stressing that even businesspeople are experiencing sluggish growth.
He assured voters that an NDC-led government would bring about a turnaround, promising better economic prospects for the country.
As he continued his campaign tour, Mahama reiterated his message of hope and renewal, calling on voters to make the right choice for the future of Ghana and to reject the economic mismanagement under the current administration.
