Ghana’s senior men’s national team, the Black Stars, arrived in Accra on Saturday after a 1-1 draw with Angola on Friday night in their penultimate 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Otto Addo’s side will now shift focus to Monday’s final qualifier against Niger, though the draw at the 11th November Stadium has already confirmed that Ghana will not be part of the AFCON in Morocco next year.
To keep their hopes alive, the Black Stars needed to beat Angola and also secure a win in their final match against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium, especially after Niger handed them a lifeline with a 4-0 win over Sudan a day earlier.
With no chance of advancing, the match against Niger now has no bearing on Ghana’s campaign.
Currently bottom of Group F with just three points, Ghana are ten points behind Angola, five adrift of Sudan, and one behind Niger in third place.
This marks the first time in 21 years that Ghana will miss the Africa Cup of Nations.
