Niger delivered a dominant performance to secure a resounding 4-0 victory over Sudan in a Group F clash of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Dama Gazelle of Niger showcased their skill on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Stade de Kégué in Togo.
Daniel Sosah opened the scoring in the 6th minute, setting the tone for a commanding display. Youssouf Oumarou doubled the lead in the 29th minute, bringing the score to 2-0.
Just before halftime, Sosah converted a penalty in added time (45+3), giving Niger a comfortable 3-0 advantage at the break.
The frustration deepened for Sudan in the second half when Ousseini Badamassi netted in the 51st minute, sealing the 4-0 rout.
This result breathes new life in Ghana’s qualification chances.
The Black Stars must now win their remaining matches in Group F to have a realistic chance of advancing.
Ghana faces a crucial test against Angola on Friday, November 15, 2024, in Luanda, before hosting Niger in a high-stakes encounter.
