Board chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Seth Panwum has said that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is now ready to host football matches again.
The Stadium was closed down for facilities to be upgraded after the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the continent's football governing body, withdrew it's approval for Category Three games to be staged at the venue.
CAF announced its decision after Ghana lost 1-0 to Angola in a 2025 AFCON qualifier.
Panwum who was speaking to Accra-based Channel One Sports, indicated that soon Kumasi Asante Kotoko and other clubs that use the venue for their home games can resume playing there.
"Baba Yara is equally undergoing, let me say, re-turfing, you know, and it has come of age. The grass is up to standard now," he said.
"With constant working after the game, we would go to Baba Yara as well to have a review of the work so far, then, yes, you know, so that we can attest whether it is ready, then we can allow Kumasi Asante Kotoko to return to the pitch," he added.
Since the facility was closed down, Premier League side Asante Kotoko have relocated to the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium for their home matches.
With the latest development, Asante Kotoko are expected to return to the Baba Yara Stadium for their home matches.
While Sunday's match against Nations F.C may be too soon for a Baba Yara return, the facility is expected to host the first installment of the Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak.
