Residents and travellers in the Kpando Torkor area are voicing concerns over the worsening condition of the ferry, which has been out of service for several weeks.
The ferry, a crucial transportation link for the region, has been inoperable, causing significant disruption to travel and local commerce.
With the ferry unavailable, passengers are left with no choice but to resort to alternative means of crossing, including overcrowded canoes, leading to long delays and increased travel costs.
These makeshift solutions pose serious risks to passengers, who now face unsafe conditions while navigating the lake.
Stephen Dzaka, a concerned traveller, shared his frustration, stating, “We used to cross safely with the ferry, but now that it's broken down, we are forced to use the canoe. It is overcrowded, and the risk of an accident is high."
"We urge the government to repair the ferry as soon as possible to prevent a potential disaster.”
Locals and travellers alike are calling on the authorities to address the situation promptly and restore the ferry service, which is vital to their daily lives and safety.
