Popular Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, better known as Mr P and one-half of the music duo P-Square, has dismissed allegations of song theft levelled against him by his twin brother and fellow artist, Paul Okoye, who goes by the stage name Rudeboy.
The accusation centres on a track titled “Winning.”
Rudeboy recently claimed that he wrote and recorded “Winning” for his upcoming album, set for release next year.
However, he expressed shock when Mr P released the same song, produced by their former producer, Vampire, before he could.
In response, Mr P took to Instagram to clarify the situation, asserting that the song was co-written and composed by him alongside another artiste, Calypso60.
“Person no dey thief him own Property! It is well!” he stated, addressing the claims. He also expressed gratitude to Vampire for his support in the matter, saying, “Thank you, @iam_vampire_official, for the clarification.”
Mr P emphasized that “Winning” was the result of collaboration. “For the record, ‘Winning’ was written and composed by @calypso60music and myself. Produced by @iam_vampire_official and co-produced by @goldswarm,” he said, highlighting the contributions of his collaborators.
Reiterating his desire to focus on his music, Mr P referenced a previous statement, saying, “Just as I said in my open letter three months ago, ‘Allow me to do my music in peace.’”
He appealed for support and positivity as he promotes the track.
“Now that I have a new single out, please allow me to enjoy my new single, WINNING, in peace. Enough of the negativity!”
