Distinguished CEOs, respected political leaders, esteemed guests, ladies, and gentlemen, good evening.
It is an extraordinary honour to welcome you all to the 1st Ghana CEO-Presidential Manifesto Gala Dinner—a historic gathering where business and political leadership converge to lay the foundation for Ghana's economic transformation. Tonight is not merely an event but a clarion call for collaboration, accountability, and progress.
We are here because we share a common vision: a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable Ghana. Our theme, “Reigniting the Business Economy and Social Contract for Growth: A Business Manifesto for Political Accountability and Sustainable Development,” captures the essence of what we must achieve together.
A Critical Moment for Ghana
Ladies and gentlemen, we find ourselves at a crossroads. Ghana’s potential is boundless, yet we are beset by challenges that demand urgent and deliberate action. Economic uncertainty, environmental degradation, and governance gaps are realities we cannot ignore. But amidst these challenges lies an opportunity—an opportunity to reset our trajectory through a renewed social contract between businesses and government.
Tonight, we aim to forge this contract, rooted in mutual trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to building an environment where businesses thrive, governance is accountable, and growth benefits all.
Key Highlights of the Evening
- The Social Contract Signing
One of the most significant moments of this Gala will be the signing of a Social Contract by the NDC and NPP flag bearers. This contract symbolizes a public pledge to principles that foster economic growth, good governance, and political accountability. By affixing their signatures, our political leaders demonstrate their commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses and fulfilling their duty to all Ghanaians. - A Pact to End Galamsey
Another critical focus of tonight’s discussions is the devastation caused by illegal mining, or galamsey. The environmental toll, economic disruption, and societal harm it has inflicted on our nation cannot be overstated. We will advocate for a bold and actionable pact to end galamsey, one that protects our environment and ensures the sustainability of our natural resources for future generations. - Perspectives from Our Distinguished Guests
We are privileged to hear from two of Ghana’s most influential leaders:
- H.E. John Dramani Mahama, former President of Ghana, will share his insights on “Reigniting Political and Business Collaboration: A Manifesto for Economic Growth, Accountability, and Sustainable Development.”
- H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice-President of Ghana, will speak on “Reigniting the Business Economy: A Manifesto for Innovation, Accountability, and Sustainable Development.” Both leaders bring unique perspectives, grounded in experience and vision, and we eagerly anticipate their contributions to this critical dialogue.
The Need for a National Development Policy
As we discuss tonight’s theme, one thing becomes clear: Ghana’s political manifestos must evolve from partisan promises to a coherent National Development Policy that transcends electoral cycles.
Our nation requires a unified, long-term vision that aligns with the aspirations of businesses, communities, and future generations. Political transitions should not disrupt progress. Instead, they should build upon a shared foundation that ensures continuity, accountability, and sustainable development.
This is why I urge all of us here—CEOs, policymakers, and stakeholders—to champion the establishment of a National Development Framework. Let us insist on tying political manifestos to this framework, so we can move forward as a nation with purpose and unity.
Five Strategic Recommendations for Business Governance
To complement this vision, I propose five critical strategies that will strengthen business governance and drive Ghana’s economic development:
- Establish a Permanent Business Advisory Council
A Permanent Business Advisory Council must be created to provide regular, structured policy feedback to the government. This council will serve as a bridge between the private sector and political leadership, ensuring that business voices remain integral to policymaking. - Revamp the Business Regulatory Environment
The regulatory environment in Ghana requires a comprehensive overhaul. Simplifying processes and eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks will attract investment, foster innovation, and empower local enterprises. - Promote Political Accountability through Governance Mechanisms
Transparent governance is non-negotiable. We must institutionalize mechanisms that hold political leaders accountable, ensuring that campaign promises translate into tangible results. Regular public-private dialogues will help assess the impact of government policies on businesses. - Strengthen the Digital Economy Ecosystem
Technology is the future. To remain competitive in the global market, Ghana must invest heavily in digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and workforce development. The digital economy is not just an enabler—it is the cornerstone of modern business growth. - Leverage Data for Evidence-Based Policymaking
Decisions must be guided by robust research and reliable data. Evidence-based policymaking will enable us to respond effectively to economic challenges and seize emerging opportunities.
A Call to Action
Ladies and gentlemen, the 1st Ghana CEO-Presidential Manifesto Gala Dinner is more than an event; it is a platform for transformative change. As business leaders, we have the power to shape the national conversation and hold our political leaders accountable to the aspirations of the people.
But this is a collective responsibility. Tonight, let us commit to being active participants in the governance of our nation. Let us champion policies that prioritize growth, inclusiveness, and sustainability. Together, we can create a Ghana where businesses thrive, governance is transparent, and the economy works for everyone.
As we engage in dialogue tonight, I urge us to think boldly, act decisively, and collaborate meaningfully. The future of Ghana depends on what we do now.
Thank you for your presence, your insights, and your commitment to Ghana’s progress.
Let’s make history together.
