Sally Frimpong Mann, a popular entertainment panelist, now the host of Showtyme on Adom TV, has said that she does not regard Nana Ama Mcbrown as a presenter.
After listing her best Ghanaian TV presenters, she told Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Changes show that Nana Ama is an actress who is trying to become a presenter.
“I know her to be an actress; I don’t reckon her as a presenter. Every single thing that she was doing in the movie industry is what she’s trying to bring onto the presentation,” she said.
Sally Mann does not dispute the fact that Nana Ama is doing well at her new role as a presenter. However, she thinks the actress is not a qualified presenter and should not be given the recognition.
It is not only Nana Ama whom the ‘controversial’ Sally Mann deems not a presenter, but also all actors and actresses who have become TV show hosts. She feels that most of them ventured into presenting due to the low patronage in the movie industry.
“Every single person who has been into movies and has turned into a presenter, I don’t reckon them as presenters,” she said.
She therefore mentioned Emelia Brobbey and Kwaku Manu as entertainers who are also leveraging on their acting careers to do presentation.
Additionally, she emphasised that such individuals are doing well due to the fame and following they have garnered on social media through acting, noting that they are not well acquainted with the ethics of journalism.
“I respect whatever they’re doing, but in the space of hosting and presenting, they don’t really uphold the ethics of the job. But because they have the fame, they’ve been able to translate that. They have the popularity and have brought it onto the scene, and people love them in that space.”
The Adom Showtyme host feels people watch their presenting contents to be entertained because that is their specialty.
Her favourite TV presenters include, Andy Dosty, Doreen Avio, Kwame B, Lexis Bill, Jerry Justice and Quophi Okyeame.
