The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson says a total of 67,000 visas were granted to Ghanaians to enter the United Kingdom in 2023.
She explained that the Commission receives thousands of visa applications each year and does its best to approve those who adhere to the rules and regulations set out in the visa application process.
“I think we granted 67,000 visas last year (2023),” she told Benjamin Akakpo on Joy News Special AM Show.
According to her, “We granted seven out of ten applications, and there is an 85% satisfaction rate with the service the people have received.”
The UK and Ghana share a long history, and as a member of the Commonwealth, it is estimated that around 250,000 people of Ghanaian descent live in the UK.
Her Excellency Thompson noted that most of those granted visas are young people, many of whom have travelled to the UK for educational purposes.
She advised the public to adhere to the various rules and regulations when applying for a UK visa to avoid disqualification.
