The Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) is set to complete Phase 1 of its Accra Plains and Kumasi depots upgrade, a milestone aimed at creating a more resilient oil supply chain in Ghana, according to Managing Director Dr. Edwin Alfred Provencal.
“This upgrade is not just about improving our infrastructure but about setting a new standard for operational excellence across our sector,” Dr Provencal stated during the Minister’s Press Briefing in Accra on Wednesday, November 6.
He highlighted that these enhancements are pivotal for BOST’s vision of strengthening Ghana’s fuel infrastructure, with a focus on achieving greater operational efficiency.
“We believe this will enhance our capacity to meet Ghana’s fuel demands efficiently and sustainably,” he added.
The project also signals a strategic shift for BOST, as it broadens its scope from traditional oil storage and transportation to a more diversified energy model that includes sustainable sources like solar energy and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
“This shift aligns with BOST’s rebranding from Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation to Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation,” Dr Provencal explained.
Upon completion of Phase 1, inter-depot loading times are expected to drop from four hours to just one hour and 30 minutes, with barge loading times reduced from seven days to a single day.
Dr. Provencal stated that these advancements will improve service delivery, enhance customer satisfaction, and solidify BOST’s reputation as one of Ghana’s leading state-owned enterprises.
