The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has emphasised the importance of equipping Ghana's youth with digital skills.
Reiterating his commitment to making Ghana a digital hub in Africa, with young Ghanaians at the centre stage, Dr Bawumia highlighted that technology is a driving force in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and acquiring digital skills is crucial for the youth to access job opportunities.
"Where the world is going, we must equip our young people with digital skills so they can take advantage of global trends. We cannot leave them behind," Dr Bawumia said in Ahwia during his engagement with stakeholders of the Kwabre East Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
"Today, if a young person is trained in digital skills, they can work from anywhere in Ghana for companies worldwide and earn a good income. It’s already happening, and we need to expand it to benefit more young Ghanaians."

Dr Bawumia explained that digital skills open global job opportunities without requiring relocation, enabling youth to work remotely from Ghana.
"You can be here in Boakra and work for companies in the United States, Canada, the UK, and still receive your earnings."
"That is why I aim to provide digital skills training to about one million Ghanaian youth, ensuring that every district in Ghana benefits. My goal is to train approximately 5,000 youth in digital skills in every district to increase job opportunities for them."
"The advantage of digital skills training is that it doesn’t require advanced education. Even those who, unfortunately, had to leave school can still acquire these skills and excel."
"This is the direction the world is heading, and we cannot leave our young people behind."
