Stakeholders in the New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern Region aims to achieve 100% digital literacy in all basic and senior high schools in the area.
The strategy aims to equip all ICT centers in all schools within the Municipality with computers capable for the teaching and learning of ICT.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Michael Okyere Baafi has already stocked most ICT centers with computers and constructed centers for schools without one.
In line with their digital literacy agenda, the Member of Parliament with support from Leyden Educational Consultancy-UK has presented some laptops to the New Juaben South Municipal education directorate to augment the existing ones.
Addressing the media after a brief handing over event, CEO of Leyden Educational Consultancy-UK Dr. James Owusu emphasised the need to prepare the next generation to be relevant in the world marketplace.
He says Ghana is competing with the world's economy and must position it citizens to be contemporary and relevant in the digital market.
According to him, due to digital literacy, many people are earning huge sums of money at the comfort of their homes.
“Today because of Digitalization, people are living in Ghana but working for firms in the United States, Europe and other economies. We must position our children for a successful future because the world is not waiting for anyone,” Dr. James Owusu explained.
The New Juaben Municipal Director of education Mr. Mustapha Haruna mentioned that, the Municipality aims to stock all the schools with computers by the year 2025 adding that, no school shall exist without a well-refurbished ICT center.
