Afetornyornufia, Mama Adu-Bobi III of Ho-Bankoe in the Volta Region, has reiterated the call for collaboration to ensure a peaceful election in the upcoming polls.
She made this statement at a musical concert held in Ho on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
As the guest speaker at the event, she educated the participants on the theme "Uniting Ghana for Peace Through Music."
She stated, “It is, therefore, key that during this election period, we all play our role, To achieve a peaceful election, political parties must play their primary role by educating their members to promote a culture of peace, dialogue, and consensus. Of course, the Electoral Commission, the judiciary, and other bodies must be supported to fulfill their missions and remain neutral in discharging their responsibilities – from civil society to religious leaders, and from traditional chiefs to opinion leaders.”
The Queen also suggested several approaches to achieving a peaceful election, stating, “We must encourage an approach that fosters joint responsibility for the process, accelerate a level playing field for contestants and all parties, ensure transparency in all aspects of the process, and provide a dispute resolution mechanism that is fair, efficient, and clear.”
The concert was part of activities aimed at ensuring a peaceful election in the upcoming December polls and was organised by the St. Anne Youth Choir of Ho-Bankoe of the Catholic Church in the Volta Region.
The night concert was held under the auspices of the Parish Priest and Local Pastoral Council of the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Ho. Stakeholders have begun organizing programmes throughout the country in a bid to promote a peaceful election.
