Asante Kotoko’s title hopes took a hit after a 1-0 defeat to Heart of Lions in their week nine Ghana Premier League clash at the Len Clay Stadium.
The game’s decisive moment came just before the half-hour mark when a misdirected pass from goalkeeper Mohammed Camara, who was caught out of position, allowed Kwadwo Obeng Junior to slot the ball into an open net.
Kotoko pushed for an equalizer, coming close when Justice Blay's header hit the post.
Despite their efforts, the Porcupines could not prevent a first home defeat this term and now back-to-back losses.
The result drops Kotoko to third in the standings, now four points off the top.
They will look to bounce back in their next game against Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
Heart of Lions, meanwhile, claimed their third win of the season and their first away victory, climbing to seventh place.
The Lions will hope to build on the momentum when they host Berekum Chelsea in Kpando next.
