A lawyer with the Centre for Social Justice, Nii Armah Addy, says the fair administration of justice in this country is essential for leading Ghanaians toward the prosperous future everyone seeks.

According to him, when a segment of the population feels that justice is not being delivered fairly, it creates significant issues related to perception.

Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile on Saturday, Mr Addy pointed out the importance of the composition of judges handling cases, suggesting that if there is a perception that a particular judge’s inclusion could compromise the court's judgment, appropriate actions should be taken.

He noted that while the Supreme Court has enough judges, the selection of those who hear a case must be carefully considered to maintain public confidence in the judiciary.

The legal practitioner also remarked on the political implications of judicial decisions, questioning what the outcomes might have been if different individuals were involved in cases.

He stressed the need for the judiciary to work consistently and transparently to avoid negative perceptions, particularly in politically sensitive matters.

According to Mr Addy, while the judiciary generally performs well, it has unfortunately fallen short in addressing political cases under the current administration.
