Israeli Ambassador Designate tours Jewish education centres in Ghana

Israeli Ambassador-designate, Roey Gilad, together with his wife Nitza Gilad, Head of Culture and Public Diplomacy, toured the Ghana chapter of Project TEN in Winneba, Central Region, on Tuesday.

The visit provided them with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the activities at the center.

Project TEN is a leading Jewish service-learning program held in Israel and developing countries around the world. Through this program, volunteers participate in an integrated curriculum focusing on Jewish values and community, while engaging in a global dialogue on Jewish identity with their peers.

During the visit, H.E. Roey Gilad and Mrs. Nitza Gilad held meetings with volunteers from Israel.

They also visited several volunteer sites, including Synclaire School, C.O.C. School, HHVF Day Care for Special Children, and Don Bosco School for children with disabilities.

The Ambassador Designate expressed his gratitude to the team at the Project TEN center in Winneba for their passion and dedication, adding that the embassy is proud of the impactful work they are doing in the community.

TEN’s center in Ghana welcomes individuals passionate about education and healthcare professions to join its efforts.

In its health programs, various healthcare professionals come together to share their knowledge, skills, and experiences with the ultimate goal of promoting health, daily functioning, participation, well-being, and an enhanced quality of life within communities in developing countries.

Project TEN actively engages with around eight schools in the village each cohort, organizing experiential activities in the mornings. Volunteers join classrooms, leading empowering activities on a variety of topics with local students. Additionally, we host a Teacher's Seminar in Winneba multiple times a year.

This special event provides an opportunity to teach local teachers our educational model and methods, aiming to create a lasting, positive impact on the local educational community.

Project TEN’s educational activities empower children and youth to become proactive and make a positive impact in their communities.

As part of the TEN initiative, two farms have been established within the schools.

These farms offer hands-on experiences and impart knowledge on advanced agricultural practices, including irrigation systems, greenhouse agriculture, composting, recycling, and environmental protection.

It's an opportunity for children to learn about sustainable farming and develop an understanding of environmental responsibility.
