The government’s high-speed internet service launch for 5G took place at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra on Friday, November 1, 2024.
This follows an announcement by the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, that the government has partnered with seven industry players to establish a shared infrastructure for 5G services.
This initiative aims to deliver affordable, high-speed mobile broadband services across Ghana.
President Akufo-Addo is expected to officially announce the launch, which is anticipated to elevate internet connectivity and speed to new levels.
The 5G service, known as the Fifth Generation of Wireless Technology, promises faster internet, higher upload and download speeds, more consistent connections, and enhanced network capacity.
5G networks operate on the same radio frequencies as previous technologies—3G, 4G, and 4G LTE—that have served mobile phones worldwide.
