All five victims who drowned in the Owabi River at Akropong in the Ashanti region Tuesday morning have been identified.
The deceased are 40-year-old seamstress Helena Yasan, Boamah Gyasi Eric (28), a plumber, Lordina Yasan (10), a pupil, and Rita Agyare (41), a teacher.
But the fifth victim, a 5-year-old girl identified as Doreen Yasan, is still missing.
Meanwhile, rescue efforts, with the support of local divers, have been intensified to locate her.
The five people who were onboard an Opel saloon car drowned when the vehicle veered off at a section of the Dabaa-Akropong road and plunged into the Owabi River in the Ashanti region.
The deceased were the driver of the private Opel saloon car, her two daughters, and two other passengers she lifted: a plumber and a lady teacher of the Akropong Roman Catholic Basic School.
According to eyewitness accounts, the car plunged into the river which had overflown its banks after recent rains.
A rescue team, including personnel from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Fire Service, and Police, spent hours to retrieve the four bodies.
