The Health Ministry has refuted claims that construction on the La General Hospital has halted.
In a statement, the Health Ministry assured the public that significant progress has been made in recent weeks.
“We wish to confirm unequivocally that the La General Hospital project has not halted.”
This follows media reports that the construction of the hospital had halted.
However, the release noted that the government is committed to ensuring the timely completion of the healthcare facility, which is crucial to both the community and the broader healthcare system.
Addressing concerns about a potential delay, the Ministry explained that the contractor overseeing the project had recently submitted a certificate for payment, a standard step in government-funded projects.
It added “This certificate is currently being processed by the Ministry. It is essential to note that these procedures are routine, ensuring transparency and compliance with financial protocols.
“This in no way indicates a halt of the project; rather, it is a necessary step to guarantee the continuity of work.”
According to the release, the Health Ministry, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, will continue to closely monitor and facilitate the progress of the La General Hospital to ensure its timely completion.
The Ministry urged media outlets to seek accurate information before publishing reports that might cause public anxiety.
