Real Madrid boycotted Monday night's Ballon d'Or ceremony, held in the French City of Paris.
Although the UEFA Champions League holders were not present at the magnificent ceremony, the Spanish giants won the Club of The Year award.
Monday night reports suggested that the record Champions League winners were upset about France Football Magazine's decision to not to choose forward Vinicius Junior for the best men's player.
Instead, Madrid were informed by an anonymous source that the prestigious award would go to Spanish midfielder, Rodri.
According to AFP and Spanish media, Madrid reportedly said its representatives would not go "where it is not respected" after receiving the news of Vinicius snub.
"If the award criteria doesn't give it to Vinicius as the winner, then those same criteria should point to Carvajal as the winner," the club said in a statement to AFP and Spanish media.
"As this was not the case, it is clear that Ballon d'Or-Uefa does not respect Real Madrid. And Real Madrid does not go where it is not respected."
In the end, even though the club's manager Carlo Ancelotti and summer signing Kylian Mbappe both won individual honors, neither individual was present to receive their award.
By the time the event was over, it was evident that no player or official of Real Madrid had attended the event.
Meanwhile, Vinicius has responded to choice of Rodri as Ballon d'Or winner on X: "I'll do it 10x if I have to. They're not ready."
