The New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Agona West Constituency in the Central Region, Chris Arthur, has alleged that independent parliamentary candidate Cynthia Mamle Morrison is behind the recent shooting incident in the area.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Election Brief on Monday, October 28, 2024, Chris stated, “She was in the road, standing on the roof of her car, jubilating about what had happened and shouting at her supporters to do more. She was behaving like a warrior.”
He added, “I cannot tell where the gun came from or who fired it within the camp. We filed a report as soon as we left the scene.”
Four individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. The Nasara Coordinator for the constituency, who also serves as Chris Arthur’s campaign chairman, Rasheed Haruna, was among those injured.
According to Chris, he has put his campaign activities on hold in the constituency until Haruna and the others are back on their feet.
The NPP constituency chairman, Alhaji Tango, condemned the incident and urged both candidates to conduct their future activities without intimidation.
