A fire broke out at the Honeysuckle Pub and Restaurant in Labone on Saturday, October 26, around 5 p.m., affecting parts of the well-known establishment.
However, swift action from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) prevented extensive damage, confining the blaze to the restaurant's kitchen.
No injuries were recorded.
Firefighters from GNFS responded promptly to the emergency, successfully bringing the situation under control and containing the fire to prevent it from spreading to other sections of the pub.
Officials from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) were also on-site, disconnecting power to ensure the safety of responders and prevent any potential reignition during the operation.
Assistant Division Officer Alex King Nartey later provided an update via the GNFS’s official Facebook page, acknowledging the coordinated effort between GNFS and ECG in handling the situation.
“Fire involved the kitchen of the pub and its contents. Despite some partial damage to the kitchen and its contents, no injury was recorded. The adept firefighters swiftly and successfully prevented the fierce fire from spreading to the sitting area of the pub, thereby saving a lot of valuables from the flames,” GNFS stated on its Facebook page.
The fire was fully extinguished at 6:15 p.m., with firefighters from Headquarters and the Trade Fair Fire Stations leading the response.
The GNFS praised the crew’s efforts, posting, “Ayekoo to the firefighting crew from Headquarters and Trade Fair Fire Stations for saving the Honeysuckle Pub from fire ruins.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
