The Volta Regional Communication Bureau of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has distributed a total of 200 smartphones to the party’s communicators.
According to the Regional Communication Officer, Kafui Agbleze, in a press statement on Friday, October 25, the phones were procured by the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
“The Regional Communications outfit and the entire Functional Executive Committee (FEC) are profoundly grateful to Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa (Chairman of the Regional Communication Committee) whose unwavering commitment to the NDC and benevolence made such a laudable initiative of distributing two hundred (200) smartphones possible.”
The mobile phones were given to selected serial callers from all 18 constituencies in the region, including all constituency communication officers, deputies, and some women organizers, youth organizers, and Zongo caucus coordinators.
According to Agbleze, the move is “a bold step towards enhancing communication strategies for the upcoming 2024 elections.”
He added that “this initiative aims to empower our dedicated communication team across the region and other officers with advanced tools, enabling them to effectively engage, disseminate information, and coordinate activities crucial to maximizing votes in the region for H.E. John Mahama and the various parliamentary candidates.”
Agbleze added “These smartphones are equipped with cutting-edge features to empower our communication officers in their vital roles. With instant access to information, improved coordination, and real-time updates, our teams will be better equipped to convey the party's message and engage with constituents effectively.”
He concluded by saying, “As we inch towards the 2024 elections, the NDC recognizes the pivotal role communication plays in ensuring a connected and informed electorate. This strategic investment reflects our dedication to leveraging technological advancements to strengthen grassroots connectivity and political outreach.”
