Wesley Girls' High School (Wey Gey Hey) has secured a thrilling victory over St. Peter's Senior High School (PERSCO) and Mawuli School in a heated National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) quarterfinal contest, propelling the all-girls school into the semi-final stage of the competition.
Wesley Girls' clinched the win with an impressive 51 points, while PERSCO followed closely with 48 points. Mawuli School, unfortunately, lagged behind, finishing third with 24 points.
The competition began intensely as Wesley Girls’ SHS and PERSCO battled neck-and-neck, with Mawuli School trailing slightly.
In the first round, Wesley Girls’ took an early lead, finishing with 24 points, just ahead of St. Peter’s 22 points. Mawuli School began with 16 points, showing promise but needing to catch up.
Round 2 saw a shift as PERSCO surged into the lead with 31 points. Wesley Girls’ fell to second place with 29 points, and Mawuli School struggled, dropping to 13 points.
The third round ended in a dramatic tie between Wesley Girls’ and PERSCO, both sitting at 34 points. Mawuli School made a slight improvement, ending the round with 17 points.
By the end of Round 4, Wey Gey Hey reclaimed their lead, extending it to 44 points, while PERSCO trailed with 41 points. Mawuli School made a final push, ending the round with 24 points.
In the final round, Wesley Girls’ High School sealed the deal with an outstanding 51 points, securing their spot in the semi-finals. PERSCO put up a strong fight but ultimately finished second with 48 points, while Mawuli School concluded the contest with 24 points.
The victory marks a significant milestone for Wesley Girls’ SHS as they advance to the semi-final stage, inching closer to the coveted NSMQ championship title.
