Ball and Stick, in collaboration with Harrow Sports (USA), is set to organize the maiden edition of the Triangular Inter-Colleges’ Hockey Games on Saturday, October 26, at SOS College, Tema.
The event will feature Legacy Girls College, Hope College, and the host school, SOS College, in a competition aimed at fostering the growth of hockey at the school level.
According to the organizers, the tournament serves as preparation for the Hockey Accelerate Tournament, part of the May Hockey Festival, scheduled from May 1-4, 2025, at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium.
The festival is part of a larger effort to promote hockey nationwide.
Mr. Kojo Lumour Ameye, CEO of Ball and Stick, announced plans for similar competitions among tertiary schools ahead of the May Hockey Festival, with the next event slated for January 2025, involving Ashesi University, Academic City, and GIMPA.
The Triangular Inter-College Games are part of a series of activities designed to raise awareness of hockey and encourage participation.
The May Hockey Festival is just one initiative under the larger 1M4H (1 Million 4 Hockey) project, which aims to have one million people actively involved in or following the sport.
Ball and Stick is committed to growing hockey in schools, complementing the efforts of the Ghana Hockey Association to develop the sport at all levels.
