In a dramatic turn of events in Parliament, members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) broke into boos and jubilant cheers as their colleague New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs exited the chamber Tuesday morning.
The lively atmosphere preceded a the day's session, with the NDC caucus claiming majority status. It follows the confusing signals sent by both The Speaker and the Supreme Court last week, when Alban Bagbin announced that there were four vacancies in the house. Three of the affected MPs are members of the NPP, while the fourth is an NDC member. The Supreme Court, on its part, stayed execution of the Speaker's 'ruling'. In effect, both sides are claiming to be the Majority side.
Watch as the tension gave way to jubilation in this unfolding political drama.
