The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has commended Public Health Without Borders (PHWB) for its remarkable partnership with Nexgen Global Health in delivering a groundbreaking health outreach campaign in Sierra Leone.

The initiative, focused on promoting personal hygiene and disease prevention, has successfully reached over 1.5 million social media users and engaged thousands of Sierra Leoneans in person during a series of community events.

The campaign, hailed as a major achievement in the region’s health promotion efforts, utilized transcribed health messages and a digital blast strategy to engage audiences across multiple platforms, marking a new era in health communications within West Africa.

Speaking on behalf of ECOWAS, Health Committee member Dr Kwame Addo praised the initiative, stating: “This campaign is unprecedented in both scale and approach. By leveraging digital technology and community outreach, Public Health Without Borders and Nexgen Global Health have set a benchmark for health promotion that aligns with ECOWAS's vision for a healthier and more informed West Africa.”

PHWB Coordinator, Rebecca Thompson, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration: “We are thrilled to have partnered with Nexgen Global Health for this initiative. Our joint efforts have not only amplified our reach but have also ensured that crucial health information on personal hygiene is accessible to millions of people. This partnership demonstrates the power of collective action and innovation in public health.”

Dr. Prisca Ifeoma, Founder of Nexgen Global Health, highlighted the success of the campaign: “This collaboration with Public Health Without Borders is a milestone in our mission to promote health literacy and preventative care across the region. By transcribing and disseminating health messages to over 1.5 million social media users, we have created an effective platform to educate and empower communities, helping them adopt better hygiene practices.”

The campaign, supported by local health authorities and volunteers, has been recognized as a model for future health outreach initiatives within ECOWAS states.
